Centre for Innovation Law and Policy

The Centre for Innovation Law and Policy at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, supports and facilitates the study of law and its relationship to technology. It sponsors and cultivates research, teaching, policy development and knowledge exchange on law, legal theory, and policy related to technology, broadly understood. As a policy advisory centre, the Centre seeks to bring a wide variety of perspectives and a broad range of expertise to understanding the challenges posed by the emergence of new and disruptive technologies, and to the development of innovative and effective public policy solutions. As a scholarly research centre, the Centre is open to interdisciplinary approaches, including law's dialogue with the humanities, social sciences and digital humanities. The Centre faculty approach foundational, theoretical and topical issues concerning law and technology through the rubrics of law, philosophy, political science, economics and cultural studies, with particular expertise in intellectual property, cyberlaw, privacy, and biotechnology law. Prof. Simon Stern & Prof. Abraham Drassinower, Co-Directors.
